“The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” (Psalm 12:6) Seven in the Bible is a number that often denotes perfection and completion. The goal is to encourage our minds to a higher plane than our human reasoning and and see how the risen Lord Jesus thinks about things as revealed in His Word, the Holy Scriptures.

The Mystery of the Missing Words

United Nations NYC

Wikipedia: "The United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights issues. The UN was founded in 1945 to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between nations and to provide a platform for dialogue."

Its motto is ‘We the Peoples’. It is currently made of 192 member nations with great diversity of religious beliefs and cultural ideologies that are to be respected by all. Its goal of world peace and disarmament is engraved on the stonewall facing it that quotes Isaiah 2:4 from the Bible.

…"they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore."

But is this noble goal of universal peace possible without the omitted words?

They are discovered in the first part of verse four and are the ones in all caps: "AND HE [THE LORD] SHALL JUDGE AMONG THE NATIONS, AND SHALL REBUKE MANY PEOPLE: AND they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore." They have left out the "He", the Lord and His coming rule of righteousness on earth from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:1-4).

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord, verified by matching the prophecies. The Son sacrificed Himself in love as a judgment payment of substitution unto the Father for all nationalities and their sins. The Father raised the Son from the dead and He was seen by many witnesses. The Father then gave Him the highest position on His right hand in heaven of Lord and coming King. For those who repent and place their trust in God’s Son they are incorporated by His living Spirit into the multinational group called "the body" of which Christ Jesus is its sole Head. It is with this body, when completed, that the Lord will return to rule with "on earth peace, good will toward men".

But first God’s counsel for the unrepentant nations is not disarmament but armament. For there is a time of worldwide judgment coming to remove the rebel sinner so righteousness can fully reign. Joel 3:9,10 prophecies: "Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles [nations]; Prepare war … Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears…"

The Lord’s counsel to the kings (leaders) is in Psalm 2:10-12: "Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him."

While on an international level the UN has left out the "He", don’t do the same on a personal level – for there is no peace without the Son of God. As has been said, ‘Know Him, know peace – no Him, no peace’.

There are 4 types of peace that only come from the living Lord.

Political Peace – Isaiah 9:7 – "Of the increase of HIS government and peace there shall be no end"…

Salvation Peace – Rom. 5:1 – "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our LORD JESUS CHRIST".

Social Peace – Eph. 2:14 – "For HE is our peace who hath made both [Jew and Gentile} one…" Jewish and Gentile believers now are one and equal in the body of Christ (God’s United Nations).

Personal Peace – Philp. 4:7 – "And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through CHRIST JESUS."
